Mishimoto Thermostats guide
Mishimoto’s thermostats are chosen by opening temperature, which most titles give. Racing thermostats make up much of the range and open earlier than a standard unit, mostly between 60 and 76 °C, with 68 °C the most common figure. Others are listed simply as thermostats, from 68 to 100 °C, and a few come complete with a housing.
Beyond the model-specific parts there are universal performance thermostats sold purely by temperature, from 60 °C (140 °F) to 82 °C (179 °F). Thermostats for a thermostatic oil sandwich plate, at 71, 85 or 93 °C, decide when oil is sent to an oil cooler.
A thermostat does not add cooling capacity. A lower opening temperature changes where the coolant temperature settles when the radiator has capacity to spare, which is why it suits track use. On a road car it can lengthen warm-up, and modern engines may log a fault if they run below the temperature they expect.
Vehicle search does not cover them, so use the engine and years in each title. Fit a new seal or gasket with the thermostat and bleed the air out of the system afterwards.
