Swap Kits guide

Swap kits handle the detail jobs left once a different engine is in the car, where the new engine’s parts and the original chassis no longer meet. The range holds air-conditioning line kits that join a swapped engine’s compressor to the chassis lines, and a slim replacement dipstick.

In a swap the compressor usually sits in a new place with its ports facing a new way, so the original pipes no longer line up. The line kits bridge that gap for the engine, chassis and year range named in the title. Air-conditioning joints seal on O-rings that must suit the refrigerant and compressor oil, and the system works only if it is clean, dry and leak-free.

A dipstick has a similar problem. An engine that sits at a different angle, or with a different tube, may need another stick to read the level correctly and clear nearby parts.

Points to check before ordering:

  • Air-conditioning line kits: each is listed for one engine family and one chassis with a year range, so check all three against your car.
  • Dipstick: a slim replacement for swapped engines, listed for its engine family.

Refrigerant must never be vented, so have the system recovered, vacuum-tested and recharged by a qualified air-conditioning technician. Fit new O-rings lubricated with the correct compressor oil before the system is evacuated. After fitting the dipstick, check its marks against a measured oil fill, since the installation angle may differ from the original.
