Tools guide
The tools section holds the workshop tools that tuning and motorsport work needs beyond a standard socket set. It includes aluminium AN wrenches, crimping and cable-stripping tools, brake pipe benders and flaring tools, and thread gauges. It also has pullers and service kits, fluid extractors, oil funnels, trim removal tools, soft vice jaws, jack and stand accessories, and tool bags.
Choose by the job and its size:
- AN wrenches are listed by AN size, from AN8 to AN16. They are aluminium, so they grip anodised fittings without marking them the way a steel spanner can.
- Crimping tools are listed by the range they take, for example 0.5 to 6 mm² insulated terminals or 10 to 95 mm² battery lugs. A crimp made with the right die holds better than one squeezed with pliers.
- Brake pipe tools are listed by pipe diameter, such as a bender for 4.8 to 12.7 mm pipe.
- Thread gauges and identification kits name an unknown thread before you order a fitting.
The right tools also make the work safer. Never work under a car held up only by a jack: lower it onto stands at its jacking points first. Each pipe end must be flared to the type its fitting expects, and the brakes bled and checked for leaks before the car moves. After work on the cooling system, a pressure tester finds leaks before they show on track.
