    Window Nets guide

A window net closes the driver’s door window opening with a panel of webbing. In a roll or side impact it keeps the driver’s arms and head inside the car, and it keeps larger debris out. The range holds FIA window nets in black, red and blue, measuring 700 × 500 mm, and a quick-release kit.

In a roll, an arm that flails out of an open window can be trapped between the car and the ground. Preventing that injury is the net’s main job. The net is usually fixed along its lower edge and latched at the top, so it holds firm under load yet drops away once released. The release should open easily from inside and outside, so the driver or a marshal can clear the opening in seconds.

    Points to check:

    • Size: compare 700 × 500 mm with your window opening and your rules, which often say how much of the opening the net must cover.
    • Mounting: plan the lower bar and the top latch on the cage before ordering, and use the quick-release kit to set up or renew the latch.
    • Colour: black, red or blue, with no effect on function.

Tension the net so it does not flap at speed, yet releases with one pull. Practise the release with gloves on. Check the webbing for fading and fraying, and replace a net after an accident.
