Turbosmart Wastegates

Turbosmart’s wastegates fall into two kinds. External wastegates, in the current GenV generation, are named by valve size: UltraGate38, CompGate40, HyperGate45, ProGate50 and PowerGate60. Each is sold by base spring pressure, such as 5, 7 or 14 psi, and often by colour, and many also come in compressed-gas versions for boost control with a CO2 supply.

Internal wastegate actuators, the IWG75 range, replace the factory actuator on a turbo with a built-in wastegate. They are listed by turbo or application and by spring pressure, and a vacuum-operated vIWG covers other layouts.

Beyond the diaphragm designs there are butterfly-type StraightGates and fully electronic wastegates such as the eWG45, which are driven by a motor rather than by boost pressure against a spring.

Service parts are listed in the same place: springs, diaphragm kits, valve and guide sets, sensor caps and clevises. Check whether a part is for a Gen4 or a GenV gate, because Turbosmart notes that some GenV parts do not suit Gen4 or earlier wastegates. When changing a spring, start from the base pressure your engine needs rather than the highest boost you plan to run.
