ACT Clutch Kits

ACT’s clutch kits in this section are all multi-plate: twin-disc kits, with a few triple-disc race kits. They come in three grades, HD, XT and MaXX XT, and each grade is offered as a Street kit or a Race kit. A Twin Disc Sintered Iron race kit, marked T1RR, adds a sintered iron friction option.

The street and race kits differ in their discs and in the maker’s advice. ACT describes the twin-disc design as doubling the friction surfaces for wear and heat capacity, and the race kits as using 6-pad rigid ceramic discs, recommended for race use only.

The code after the dash in the part number is the application, and the same code appears in every grade and version. Once you know your code, you can compare the HD, XT and MaXX XT kits, Street or Race, side by side.

In the fitment data the kits are linked mainly to Ford, then Cadillac and Chevrolet, with a few for Honda, Toyota and Nissan.

A multi-plate clutch changes the pedal feel and engagement, so check the release system and hydraulics at the same time and follow the maker’s bedding-in advice.
