Simons’ listings in this category are rear silencers: the last box and its tailpipes, joined to the car’s existing pipework in front of them. They are stainless steel, apart from one version listed in ALU quality.

The specification table is where they differ. It gives the tailpipe layout, from a single 90 or 100 mm pipe that can exit left or right to twin 70 or 80 mm pipes, and the diameter of the pipe the silencer joins, from 63.5 to 76 mm, split into twin 50.8 or 57 mm inlets on some. Match the inlet to the pipe it will join, and check the tailpipe position against the cut-out in your bumper before ordering.

The table also states the type approval. Several silencers carry EC type approval with its E-number, while others state that they have none, so read that line if your car is inspected on the road.

When fitting, use a new clamp or gasket at the joint, and hang the silencer on rubber mounts in good condition so it cannot knock against the floor pan.
