QSP Brake Nipples & Fittings guide
QSP’s brake fittings are the small parts that join brake lines and let the system be bled. Bleed fittings, or bleed nipples, are listed by thread, from M6 up to M10 in several pitches, plus 3/8 and 7/16 UNF. The parts titled brake nipples, in male and female forms, are the tube nuts and unions for rigid line, mostly in M10 x 1, M12 x 1 and 3/8 UNF. Adapters convert between those threads when a new part does not match the original.
For braided lines there are stainless steel AN3 and AN4 fittings: female ends at 45°, female-to-female joiners, male flare to M10 x 1 adapters and banjo eyes. Convex and concave connectors, reduction bushes and a brake gland round out the range, and each part states its metal: steel, brass or stainless steel.
Match the seat as well as the thread. Metric brake unions seal on a convex or concave seat, while AN fittings seal on a 37° flare, and the two cannot be joined without an adapter. Fit new copper washers to any banjo, and bleed the system starting at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder.
