QSP Banjo Bolts guide
QSP’s banjo bolts are sold by thread, length and material, so they are matched to a component rather than to a car. Threads run from M8 up to M22 in the common pitches. They include M10 x 1 and M10 x 1.25 as found on many brake calipers, and M12 to M16 sizes for oil and fuel unions. For AN3 and AN4 banjo eyes there are 3/8-24 and 7/16 in UNF threads. The stainless steel bolts are also listed by length, from 20 to 38.5 mm.
Material is the other choice. Aluminium bolts, in silver, blue or black, keep weight down on fuel, oil and coolant lines, while the stainless steel bolts suit brake circuits and hotter locations. Double banjo bolts are longer, so that a second banjo eye can be stacked on the same bolt, for example to split a feed or add a pressure sender.
Check the pitch as well as the diameter, because M10 x 1 and M10 x 1.25 look alike but will not mix. Use new sealing washers on both faces of every banjo eye, and replace an aluminium banjo bolt that has been overtightened rather than reusing it.
