ACT
ACT, short for Advanced Clutch Technology, is an American clutch maker. Its range here covers the whole clutch assembly: complete kits, clutch discs, pressure plates, flywheels, release bearings and the small parts in between.
The discs show how the range is organised. Street discs come sprung or rigid, and race discs use four-pad or six-pad designs, again sprung or rigid. Pressure plates are listed as Heavy Duty or Xtreme and the XACT flywheels as Streetlite or Prolite, and twin-disc and Mod-Twin kits are listed as well.
The listings favour Japanese cars. Honda leads, followed by Mazda, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru. The Honda Civic and CRX, Mazda RX-7 and Toyota Supra (A80) have especially wide coverage.
Elsewhere in the Transmission & Clutch section, other brands supply shifters and linkages. ACT is the brand for the clutch itself. Discs, pressure plates and flywheels are also sold on their own, so you can replace a single worn part without buying a full kit.

Description
4240008 is a 4-pad rigid race disc made with high quality, ceramic friction materials. The disc engagement is harsher, but shifting is faster. The race disc features top grade rivets to securely fasten the part together. The rivet design and materials are carefully selected for maximum strength. The 4-pad rigid race disc is well-suited for the smaller disc sizes in smaller engines.
Feel:
Aggressive engagement, quickest shifts, increased gear rattle
Life:
Premium ceramic friction materials provide moderate wear rates and high heat tolerance, rigid design may increase spline wear
Quality:
Lightweight rigid design, chromoly hub is heat-treated for strength and durability
Recommendation:
Recommended for race use only
Difference:
High burst strength and holds 28% more torque than typical organic materials
