ST Lowering Springs

ST’s springs are sold as Street Comfort sets of four springs, covering both axles. ST describes the construction as chrome silicon steel, cold wound and finished with an epoxy coating. It quotes a typical drop of around 20 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear, with the exact figure depending on the car.

The titles come in two forms. Most name the make and ST’s part number; a second group is titled only with the engines it suits, such as 1.9TDi or 2.0TSi, and uses the same part-number series. For both kinds the body style is recorded in the product data, from hatchback and saloon to estate, coupé, convertible, SUV and MPV. It is worth checking, because one model can take different springs for each body.

Sets for BMW, Volkswagen and Audi are the most numerous, then Seat, Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Skoda, with Ford, Honda, Renault and Peugeot among the rest.

A modest drop like this is normally run on the existing dampers if they are in good order. If they are tired, replace them at the same time, since new springs will not hide worn damping.
