ST Coilovers

ST grades its coilovers by how much of the damping you can adjust. X kits have fixed damping and adjust ride height only. XA kits add rebound adjustment. XTA kits keep the rebound adjuster and usually include the front top mounts, and the XTA plus 3 version adjusts rebound and compression separately.

Whatever the version, the ride height is set on a continuous thread on the galvanised strut body by turning the spring plate. What comes in the box depends on the car. Where the rear axle carries separate springs and dampers, the set is front coilover struts plus height-adjustable rear springs and matching dampers; on other cars both axles get coilover struts. Most listings name the German parts certificate supplied (Teilegutachten to §19.3), and some carry a part type approval instead.

Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Seat lead the fitment listings, with Ford, Skoda, Opel, Mini, Mazda and Honda next. Volkswagen Group compacts carry the most listings: the A3 of the 8P and 8V generations, the Golf VI to VIII, the Leon (5F) and the Octavia III.
