Porsche 911 997 Brake System

Porsche 911 997 Brake System guide

The 997 page spans the 997.1 and 997.2 Carreras, the Turbo and the GT2 and GT3 models, Cup cars included, and their brakes differ in size. Discs listed here run from 318 mm at the front of the Carrera 3.6 to 380 mm on the Turbo, with 330 mm for the S, 4S and GTS. Match any disc to the exact model.

Two-piece floating discs are a strong theme, mostly from Girodisc with an EBC SG2F alternative, while one-piece discs come as drilled EBC discs or DBA 4000 Series T3 and HD versions. Girodisc also lists titanium backing plates, which sit between the pad and the caliper pistons, and EBC a braided line set for both axles.

Pads lean towards the track. Race compounds such as Pagid’s RSL 29, Hawk’s DTC-60 and EBC’s RP-X sit beside road pads like Hawk HPS 5.0 and EBC Redstuff. Between the two, EBC Yellowstuff and Ferodo DS2500 are graded sport.
