ARP Oil Management

ARP’s oil management listings are the fasteners that hold the sump in place: oil pan bolt kits and oil pan stud kits, each made for a particular engine family. A stud kit leaves threaded studs in the block, so the pan locates on them and the nuts take the tightening, which spares the block threads if the pan comes off often. A bolt kit is the simpler like-for-like replacement.

Within each type, the choice is head shape and finish. Kits come with 12-point or hex heads, several in stainless steel. Each listing gives the socket size, from 5/16 to 1/2 in on most kits and 8 to 12 mm on the metric ones. Some kits are specific to a one-piece pan gasket, a pan with side rails or an aluminium timing cover. Check the gasket and front cover on your engine as well as the engine itself.

ARP’s Ultra Torque assembly lubricant is listed here too, for the threads and the underside of the heads. Tighten the pan fasteners in stages, working from the centre outwards, so the gasket compresses evenly.
