PBS
PBS Brakes — short for Performance Brake Solutions — is a British manufacturer of high-performance brake pads, discs, and brake fluid developed specifically for race and track-day use. PBS has become one of the most popular choices among UK track-day drivers seeking a genuine performance upgrade at an accessible price.
Their pad range is led by two compounds: ProTrack, a milder-bite pad suited to fast road and occasional track use with strong wet performance, and ProRace, a competition compound offering higher initial bite and stopping power for circuit racing. PBS High Carbon discs complete the range, and the brand supports numerous MSA-sanctioned championships.

Description
The PBS Pro Comp S1 is the most aggressive low-temperature compound in the Pro Comp range, engineered for drivers who demand maximum initial bite, instant response, and race-ready stopping power from the very first braking zone. Developed for sprint racing, rally, and short-format circuit use, it is designed to deliver peak performance in situations where brakes must work hard immediately, without waiting for temperature to build.
Built from a high-metallic competition material, the Pro Comp S1 operates in a broad 50–800 °C temperature range, making it exceptionally effective even from cold. With a high friction coefficient of approximately 0.47–0.50μ, it provides a sharp, confident bite and strong deceleration force, allowing drivers to brake later and harder while maintaining precise control through modulation. This combination of high friction and predictable torque delivery makes it especially effective in sprint races, hill climbs, and rally stages where responsiveness is everything.
Despite its aggressive character, the S1 remains impressively controllable, offering smooth release and consistent pedal feedback under repeated high-load braking. Its formulation is tuned to maintain stability across both cold and hot conditions, giving drivers confidence whether they are on the first lap or deep into a competitive stint. The compound’s balanced wear characteristics also ensure reliable performance without excessive degradation, making it a strong choice for frequent racing environments.
As part of the PBS Pro Comp family, the S1 is designed to provide strong performance from cold, high bite, and consistent braking behaviour across varying grip levels, making it a favourite for sprint, rally, and short endurance applications where outright stopping power is the priority.
Whether you’re attacking a hill climb, pushing through a sprint race, or competing in rally conditions, the PBS Pro Comp S1 delivers immediate confidence, aggressive braking performance, and the control needed to stay ahead of the competition.
