About the brand

PBS

PBS Brakes — short for Performance Brake Solutions — is a British manufacturer of high-performance brake pads, discs, and brake fluid developed specifically for race and track-day use. PBS has become one of the most popular choices among UK track-day drivers seeking a genuine performance upgrade at an accessible price.

Their pad range is led by two compounds: ProTrack, a milder-bite pad suited to fast road and occasional track use with strong wet performance, and ProRace, a competition compound offering higher initial bite and stopping power for circuit racing. PBS High Carbon discs complete the range, and the brand supports numerous MSA-sanctioned championships.

Description

The PBS Pro Comp R compound is purpose-built for drivers and teams who demand maximum rear-end stability under heavy braking. Developed specifically for rear-axle applications in race and track cars, this compound is engineered to complement aggressive front brake setups while delivering the control and confidence needed to push deeper into every braking zone.

Unlike traditional high-bite rear compounds, the Pro Comp R uses a carefully balanced friction profile with lower initial bite and reduced torque output, allowing the rear axle to remain stable and predictable during trail-braking and rapid weight transfer. The result is a smoother brake release, improved chassis balance, and more confidence when attacking corners at the limit.

Operating across a broad 0–700 °C temperature range, the Pro Comp R maintains excellent consistency under repeated high-load braking while offering impressively low wear rates. Its advanced formulation is also highly compatible with modern ABS systems, making it particularly effective on contemporary GT, touring, and track-day platforms where brake balance and electronic intervention work closely together.

Built by racers for racers, the Pro Comp R delivers the smooth modulation, durability, and thermal stability serious drivers expect from a true motorsport compound without the harshness often associated with aggressive rear pads. Whether paired with PBS Pro Comp front compounds or integrated into a custom brake setup, it gives drivers the confidence to brake harder while keeping the car composed and controllable.
