Supertech Valvetrain

Supertech’s valvetrain range covers the parts of a cylinder head rebuild: valves, springs, guides, stem seals and keepers. Valves are sold as kits for the intake or the exhaust side of a named engine, in the standard head size or oversize, usually by 1 mm. The material follows the job: intake valves are mostly black-nitrided stainless steel, exhaust valves are often Inconel, and a few are sodium-filled Inconel.

Guides are manganese bronze, with a few in nickel aluminium bronze, and valve stem seals come in Viton or polyacrylic. Keepers are listed by groove type, single or triple, and by lock angle, which must match the valve and the retainer.

Most titles identify parts by engine, for example B58, RB26 or H22. Some are also linked to vehicles, mainly Honda, BMW and Nissan, then Subaru, Peugeot and Toyota.

Spring kits should be matched to the camshaft: the product data gives the seat and open pressures, coil bind and maximum lift for many of them. When fitting new valves, check the guides and seats at the same time, since a new valve in a worn guide will not seal for long.
