ARP Air Cleaner Stud Kits

ARP Air Cleaner Stud Kits guide

ARP’s listings in this category cover the studs that hold a carburettor and its air cleaner, and most are carburettor stud kits rather than air cleaner studs as such. They are chosen by what sits between the carburettor and the manifold: kits are listed for no spacer or for spacer plates of 1/2, 1 or 2 in. Some suit a particular dual throttle return spring kit, with a separate version for each spacer height. Drilled studs take locking wire, and several kits are stainless steel.

The air cleaner stud kits proper hold the filter housing to the carburettor, in 1/4 or 5/16 in threads and lengths quoted to the thousandth of an inch, such as 2.225 or 3.200 in. Float bowl bolt kits, and kits for large four-barrel carburettors of the Dominator type, complete the section.

Measure the whole stack before ordering: the carburettor flange, any spacer and gaskets and, for an air cleaner stud, the height of the filter housing. A stud that is too long can stop the lid from sealing, while one that is too short leaves too few threads under the nut.
