Volkswagen Golf Mk6 Suspension guide
Golf Mk6 suspension is listed for the hatchback, the estate and the cabriolet, and the cabriolet often takes springs and coilovers of its own. After the body, check the diameter of the front struts, 50 mm or 55 mm, which divides many kits and coilovers. Then check whether the car has DCC adaptive dampers, which several H&R titles mention.
To keep the standard ride, worn springs can be renewed like for like from Bilstein’s B3 or Eibach’s ERL range, with Bilstein B6 and B8 dampers alongside. Lowering springs come from Eibach, as Pro-Kit or the lower Sportline, from H&R, with sets for the GTI and R, and from ST and AP. For springs and dampers bought together, Bilstein and Eibach each list B12 kits, H&R its Cup Kits, and ST and AP sort theirs by engine.
Coilovers range from sets with fixed damping to KW and ST versions that adjust rebound and compression separately, and include deeper TIEF sets from H&R. For a DCC car moving to conventional dampers, Eibach lists its Pro-Tronic kit.
