Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Brake System

Golf Mk7 brakes are sized by model. Front discs are 288 mm on the smaller engines, 312 mm on the GTD, 312 or 340 mm on the GTI depending on its brakes, and 340 mm on the R and GTI Clubsport. The rears step from 272 mm through 300 mm on the GTI to 310 mm. Hatchback, estate and Alltrack are all covered.

Owners of cars with the 340 mm front brake can also choose a two-piece floating front disc, either a Girodisc assembly or EBC’s SG2FC. Among one-piece discs, PBS lists High Carbon versions and DBA both En-Shield and slotted T3 and XD discs, next to EBC’s range. The rear discs come solid or vented depending on the car.

Street pads such as EBC Redstuff, Hawk PC and Ferodo DS Performance suit daily use, and Bluestuff NDX and DBA’s Xtreme Performance are graded as sport pads. For race use there are EBC RP-1, Hawk DTC-60, Ferodo DS3.12 and Pagid RSL 29.
