Audi A3 8P Brake System

Front discs for the A3 8P come in several sizes, depending on the engine. They are 280 or 288 mm on the smaller petrol and diesel engines, 312 mm on the 2.0 turbo petrol and 2.0 diesel, and 345 mm on the S3 and on the quattro 3.2. The S3, RS3 and 3.2 also share a 310 mm rear disc, while the other rears, from 253 to 286 mm, come solid or vented.

EBC lists its braided lines in more than one version for this car, so check the fitment of each set. Its discs come plain, slotted (USR and BSD) or dimpled and slotted, and DBA adds Street Series discs, including En-Shield versions, and 4000 Series T3 and XD discs.

Pad choice follows the catalogue’s grades: EBC’s OE-type Ultimax, its street Redstuff or Hawk’s HPS 5.0 for a road car, and Yellowstuff or Hawk HP Plus where it sees fast-road use. Race compounds such as Hawk ER-1 and DTC-60 or Pagid RSL 29 are for the circuit.
