OMP Fire Extinguishers

Most of OMP’s listings here are parts for installing a plumbed extinguisher system rather than extinguishers themselves. For the pipework there is 8 mm aluminium tubing in 4 m lengths, with straight, T, 3-way and final L connectors for 6 x 8 mm pipe. Other pipework parts are a 3-way connector with quick couplings, a straight pipe fitting and a valve. To fire the system there is a pull cable for mechanical systems and a control box with a 1.5 m connecting cable for electrical ones. Brackets and clamps hold the bottles, sized for 130 mm and 160 mm bottles and for particular OMP bottle series.

The hand-held extinguisher is the OMP CB0-0325: a 132 mm steel bottle holding 2.4 litres of EcoLifePlus, which OMP describes as a fluorine-free extinguishing agent. The extinguisher is supplied with aluminium brackets and stainless steel quick-release clamps. Its listing states compliance with FIA Appendix J.

Mount a hand-held extinguisher within the driver’s reach and hold it with metal clamps. Where a plumbed system is fitted, run the tubing clear of hot parts, clip it along its length, and check the bottle’s service date against your series rules.
