Haltech CAN Devices

Haltech’s CAN devices are the parts that let an ECU share data with keypads, dashes, expanders and sensors over a CAN network. Most of the listing is cable, chosen by connector and length.

Elite-series cables have DTM-4 plugs, in DTM-4 to DTM-4 and DTM-4 to 8-pin Tyco forms, and plain CAN cables run between 8-pin Tyco plugs, in black or white. Lengths run from 75 mm to 3.6 m. A four-port DTM-4 hub joins several devices at one point, and an OBD-II lead connects to the car’s diagnostic socket. Adaptor looms convert the DTM-4 plug to the connectors used by other makers’ devices.

The rest are CAN devices themselves: keypads in 2 x 4 and 3 x 5 layouts with label sets, and TCA thermocouple amplifiers. The amplifiers have two, four or eight channels for high temperatures such as exhaust gas. The 1/4-inch open-tip thermocouples come in lengths from 0.6 m to 2.4 m, with weld-on bases in mild or stainless steel and compression fittings to mount them.

Measure cable runs along their real route rather than in a straight line, and choose thermocouple lengths that reach the amplifier without strain.
