Volkswagen Passat B6 Suspension

For the Passat B6, saloon and estate usually take different springs and kits, and the 4Motion models, the R36 among them, have sets of their own. H&R shows the pattern, listing front-drive and four-wheel-drive springs separately and a monotube coilover set just for the R36.

To keep the car at its standard height, replacement springs are Eibach ERL or Bilstein items, and Bilstein’s B3 rear springs include a set specific to the Variant. To go lower, there are H&R’s Cup Kits in Comfort and Sport form, the Comfort sets split between saloon and Variant. Bilstein and Eibach list B12 Pro-Kit sets, including ones for the Variant, and ST sorts its kits by engine, down to separate ones for the 3.2 FSI and the R36.

KW’s coilovers run from V1 to V3 and include DDC kits, with their own ECU or as plug-and-play versions. H&R’s twin-tube sets for the Variant come in versions for 50 or 55 mm front struts, so check the car first. Where the adaptive dampers are to be removed, Eibach lists a Pro-Tronic cancellation kit.
