Golf Mk5 parts here fit the hatchback and the estate, and within those the GTI and the four-wheel-drive R32 often need their own. H&R lists lowering springs for the GTI and, separately, for the R32, and its coilovers for the R32 come in a standard and a deeper version.

Strut diameter is the other check. ST, AP and H&R list several kits and twin-tube coilovers separately for 50 mm and 55 mm front struts, and a Bilstein B12 Sportline kit names 50 mm. ST and AP kits are also grouped by engine, so find the title that names yours.

Kits replacing springs and dampers together include B12 sets from Eibach or Bilstein, Cup Kits from H&R (including a set for the GTI), and ST and AP kits. Original-height springs come as Eibach ERL or Bilstein B3, among them a B3 front spring for the GTI. A B4 front damper is listed for the GTI too. Coilovers go as far as KW’s Clubsport sets, with DDC ECU kits that add their own control unit.
