    APP Brake Pads guide

This range has a single compound. Every pad in it belongs to the RS line, graded in the product data as a sport pad with a para-aramid compound, and each set covers one axle, front or rear.

With one compound, the choice is about fit rather than grade: find the car, then check whether the listing is for the front or the rear axle. The maker describes RS as a blend of aramid fibre and metallic materials with low compressibility, and says it may produce brake noise and dust on some cars. The pads are post-cured and scorched, which the maker says shortens the bedding-in period, although a gentle first series of stops is still sensible.

Nearly every pad carries fitment, across a wide spread of makes. BMW, Mazda, Audi, Toyota and Nissan have the most listings, and Volkswagen, Ford, Honda, Subaru, Volvo and Chrysler follow.

A sport pad is aimed at quick road driving with the odd track day. If the car is set up mainly for circuit use, the race compounds from other brands in this category are the next step.
